Cattle
We also raise Belted Galloway Cattle for our grass-fed
beef. The Belted Galloway, also known as "Belties" or "Oreo"
cattle, are so named because of the white band around the middle of
their bodies sandwiched between a black front and hind quarters. The
Belted Galloways are specifically bred to be raised on a grass diet,
whereas conventional beef cattle breeds such as the Angus cattle are
bred to be most efficiently grain fed. The Belted Galloways are well
known for their
excellent flavored
and lean meat. |

The breed
originated in the 16th century in the Galloway district of Scotland.
They are known as a "polled" breed of cattle, meaning they have no
horns. Our cattle have a calm and gentle disposition and are easy to
handle which is important in producing meat which is consistent in
taste and tenderness. |
